The Singles History
There is nothing more eagerly anticipated than the singles draw on the last evening of The Trevor.
After two days of leaning on a partner for support, suddenly every trevorer realises that the following day they are on their own, mano v mano. With 40% of the Trevor points available on this day, each player knows the effect their match can have on the final outcome of the event.
One great Trevor feature associated with the draw is Prichy's Trevorcast (each trevorer forecasts who will win each match with the best forecaster wining a cash prize - LT) that over the years has often provided a good indicator as to who will win each Trevor. It did, though, go into meltdown in 2008 (Princes) when some freakish results saw a massive OHA turn around on the final day. So shocked was Prichy by this, that he shelved the Trevorcast in 2009 - but, due to popular demand, it was reinstated the following year and remains a popular part of the whole event.
Maybe the big turn around in 2008 was caused by the change in structure that took place on this year?? A change known as "killergate" after the incumbent skipper announced at the draw that the matches would be played off full handicap when making the draw, a decision made without consulting LT!!! (In Kill's defence he was just following a national CONGU change in the handicap process for singles matchplay - LT). This led to uproar and some heated exchanges before calm was restored and the new process was agreed upon.
This change has proved to be for the better of The Trevor as the higher handicap boys are definitely more competitive. The early Trevors reflected dominance by the lower handicaps, but now, no result is a given.

Annual Scores
The following table shows the annual singles results and also whether the singles session winners won the Trevor on any given year.
The overall totals (at the foot of the table) reflect the fact the OHA have often had bigger margins of victory in the singles format.
There have been four sessions where the margin of victory has been emphatic, Dartmouth 2002, Princes 2008 & Slaley Hall 2011 being OHA wins, with the solitary ROW big triumph being Five Lakes 2004. None of these big singles wins actually changed the overall final result.
With all the OHA wins, they were leading going into the singles, although in both 2008 & 2011, the lead was by only two points The massive win for the ROW in 2004 resulted in a tight finish, but a huge lead gained by the OHA over the first two days just proved too big an obstacle to overcome.
With earlier and remarkable synergy, previously only two sessions had been halved at two milestone events, the 10th and 20th anniversary Trevors at Saunton and Woodhall Spa. 2018 resulted in another tied series, the second in three years.
Both teams seem equally matched in modern times with there only being one point dividing the teams in the past six Trevors, two of course being tied sessions as mentioned above.
